Summary

I have been inundated with job seekers contacting me to find out how this will affect the job market and their careers moving forward.

Since offices are essentially quarantining, the hiring process is likely to be completed in a remote capacity.

For the foreseeable future, more interviews will be conducted via videoconference, which is why it is incredibly important to have a computer, laptop or tablet that has a camera and microphone that work well.

There are countless forms of videoconferencing software that companies use, such as Skype and Zoom, but regardless of the program, the process is typically the same.

If you have been in communication with a potential employer, the hiring process could slow down or even freeze.

There will be hiring freezes as companies try to sort through this pandemic, as well as a slowdown to the hiring process if you are already in discussions.

This does not necessarily mean the hiring process has stopped completely, but rather that it may take longer than it would normally since people are trying to figure out a "New normal" and understand how their business will react to these changes long-term.

While it is important to remain confident throughout this process, unless you have a signed offer on the table, you should always continue your job search.

Changes to the job search don't just impact the interview process.

Knowing how to optimize your resume and LinkedIn profile to meet the search criteria is necessary to beat the ATS system and land an interview.
