Summary

The gap between the number of available jobs versus active job seekers continues to fluctuate regularly.

While some job seekers may be looking for industry-specific opportunities, others have started to look for work in alternate fields or roles.

With so much uncertainty in the labor market, a job search pivot may be the only viable option for some individuals to reenter the workforce.

Some capabilities may be industry-specific, but many skills are transferrable, and job seekers likely have more of those skills than they realize.

After identifying skills with a longer shelf life or in-demand capabilities, job seekers' next step is to determine which to acquire to help them find work.

Job seekers who gained useful insight, skills or knowledge should express that in applications, resumes, cover letters or interviews.

While there are paid learning options, many sites have low-cost or no-cost courses for job seekers to level up their knowledge.

Seasonal jobs are also an option for workers to gain hands-on experience; some organizations plan to hire remote workers during the upcoming holiday season.

Use social media to follow and interact with recruiters, career coaches or other hiring experts who share valuable job search insights or advice.

My advice to job seekers is to be confident in their skills and what they bring to a company.
